Our Story
The story of Allura Designs began several years ago in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, where my wife Allison and I were vacationing. In one of
the stores, we found a pendant that had color, fire and beauty like nothing we’d ever seen. She was complimented whenever she wore it.
A couple of years later, after yet another evening of Allison receiving numerous compliments on her stunning
pendant, I asked her if she know what kind of gem it was. She didn’t, and after some research I figured out
that it was actually made from glass coated with semi-precious metals in a high-tech process originally
developed for NASA and the space program.
Artists would create gems one-by-one, taking several days to create a masterpiece they could never duplicate.
I realized that there was an opportunity for a company that could create these gems based on consistent
designs, and in volumes that would drive the costs way down.
So I left my corporate CEO job, we rented studio space in San Diego and Allura Designs was born. We
developed the unique process that allows us to create large volumes of Allura Gems based on
the same design, yet each gem is handcrafted with all the beauty and individuality of an artist-created
masterpiece. Something no other company can do.
Soon, our gems were being sold to hundreds of small boutiques, museum stores and other retailers
nationwide under various brand names. Just like Allison, people would buy a piece, get tons of compliments,
and want more. Even NASA's gift shop sold our gems as an example of a by-product of the space program.
And then it hit us. Not only could we make our gems available to people directly from us without the high
retailer markups, but we could help people in the process!! Help people make some extra money to pay the bills, even build their own
highly successful work-from-home businesses! So we've created the next generation of Allura Gems, available exclusively through Allura
Designs Independent Consultants.
Today, Allura Gems are even more alive with ever-changing colors than that first pendant. But sometimes, when she’s not busy creating
gems along with our other artists or working with customers, Allison still puts on that first pendant she bought so long ago from that little
store in Mexico. And she thinks about luck, hard work and the American dream.
And now we have the chance to help others live that dream too.
